Steve King’s Tweet Sparks Backlash…Again

Iowa Congressman Steve King is no stranger to controversial statements. In 2013, King claimed that many DREAMers are drug mules, and said, “for every one who’s a valedictorian, there’s another 100 out there who weigh 130 pounds–and they’ve got calves the size of cantaloupes because they’ve been hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert.” Recently, King tweeted in support of far-right Dutch politician Geert Wilders–his remarks echoed common white supremacist sentiments. But a new tweet from King may take the cake. Yesterday, after news that a DREAMer named Juan Manuel Montes was deported–Montes is reportedly the first person who qualified for DACA to be deported–King tweeted:
