West Virginia’s Democratic Governor Jim Justice showed what he thinks of the state lawmakers’ budget proposal, by literally putting bullsh*t on top of it. Republican lawmakers passed a budget that would significantly cut funding for higher education, the state Division of Health and Human Resources, and the Rainy Day Fund. At a live-streamed news conference yesterday, Justice announced that he was going to veto the bill and dramatically rolled out three trays with lids.
He revealed that the first one held a “nothing-burger” and the second one held a mayonnaise sandwich–these are words he has used to describe past budgets. But Justice said that this budget is worse. The third tray turned out to be a copy of the budget with a pile of cow poop on top of it. “What we have is nothing more than bunch of political bull you-know-what,” he said. People in the crowd seemed amused but probably held their noses on the way out.
