The American Civil Liberties Union just posted the First Amendment in Arabic and Spanish on billboards in cities across the country. The aim is to inform people of their rights and remind the president that all Americans have rights protected by the Constitution. The First Amendment protects Americans’ ability to practice their religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and the right to protest.
But when the Huffington Post covered the billboards, they were presented as a response to the Trump Administration. The ACLU didn’t like that characterization:
The nonprofit got a lot of support on social media and many people are upset that everything now seems to revolve around Trump.
