With great fame comes great...er chances of being sued. Nobody knows this fact better than celebrities, and 2016 was no different. This past year we saw some of our most beloved stars entangled in celebrity court battles ranging from the bizarre to the just plain wrong. For the sake of nostalgia, here are our picks for the top celebrity legal battles of 2016!
One of the weirdest celebrity lawsuits, hands down, goes to Sofia Vergara vs. her own frozen embryos. When the highly paid television actress split from her former fiancé, Nick Loeb, she probably thought that sent a clear message that she didn’t want kids with him. Unfortunately for her, Loeb grew creepily attached to the couple’s fertilized frozen embryos (which are apparently already named Emma and Isabella) and sued Vergara for the right to have his own baby.
His latest suit on behalf of the frozen embryos contends that they have the right to live and to benefit from a trust fund that Loeb set up for them to fund their future education and health care costs. If he wasn’t sure that Vergara was creeped out by him before, he likely is now.
