Top 10 Celebrity Legal Battles of 2016
With great fame comes great...er chances of being sued. Nobody knows this fact better than celebrities, and 2016 was no different. This past year we saw some of our most beloved stars entangled in celebrity court battles ranging from the bizarre to the just plain wrong. For the sake of nostalgia, here are our picks for the top celebrity legal battles of 2016!
Jim Carey was also slapped with wrongful death lawsuits after his late ex-girlfriend Cathriona White committed suicide with a fatal mixture of pills. Brigid Sweetman, White’s mother, and White’s estranged husband, Mark Burton, both filed wrongful death suits against the actor.
Sweetman said she would gladly drop her lawsuit if Carey released the results of a 2013 STD test. She alleged that Carey lied to her daughter about having three STDs in addition to giving her the prescription pills she ultimately used to end her life.
The “Liar Liar” actor refused to take her up on her offer, and is instead asking the judge to remove claims that he gave White STDs from the lawsuit.
