So there’s a big reason why it’s so darn hard to get those Hamilton tickets. Many people have resorted to entering raffles and lotteries in order to get them and to be honest they have a better chance that way than purchasing tickets outright. Lin Manuel Miranda, the genius behind Hamilton, has decided to get to the bottom of this. In an op-ed for the New York Times, Miranda explained how the market was rigged, with third-party brokers’ “ticket bots” that roam the web buying up tickets faster than the average customer. Ticket bots are technically illegal in NY state but the penalties are peanuts compared to how much brokers rake in.
