Yesterday, a story broke involving a Muslim tourist being set on fire in New York City this weekend. On the evening before the 15th anniversary of 9/11, a Scottish tourist noticed her sleeve was set on fire by a stranger’s lighter as she was shopping on Fifth Avenue. The stranger walked away without a word and the fire was quickly extinguished. Police are investigating whether the act should be considered a hate crime.
There were also a number of other attacks on Muslims in the week of the 9/11 anniversary and the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Ahda.
