Sean Spicer got into a spat with American Urban Radio Networks reporter April Ryan yesterday at the daily press briefing. Ryan said that the White House has a Russia issue it needs to deal with. Spicer disagreed and hit back with a very mature response: “You’ve got Russia.” Then he claimed that the press was trying to find Russian connections everywhere, saying, “If the president puts Russian salad dressing on his salad tonight, somehow that’s a Russian connection.” He kept talking over Ryan, who was trying to ask a question. When she tried to ask other questions, Spicer refused to comply. He also told the veteran reporter to stop shaking her head at him.
Given that the FBI is actually investigating ties between Trump and Russia, the Press Secretary should be able to address questions about the issue. But apparently, the mere mention of Russia is enough to make him lash out. Ryan’s only comment on Twitter after the incident was:
