Oklahoma State Representative George Faught introduced a bill that would make it illegal to have an abortion even if the fetus has genetic abnormalities. When questioned about the bill, he was asked about making exceptions in cases of rape and incest. More specifically, Representative Cory Williams asked Faught if he considered rape and incest to be “the will of God.” Faught replied, “if you read the Bible, there’s actually a couple circumstances where that happened. The Lord uses all circumstances. I mean, you can go down that path, but it’s a reality unfortunately.” Faught went on to say that he believes God is sovereign and can use “anything and everything in someone’s life.” The comments caused outrage on social media, but the bill still passed the Oklahoma House. It will now go to the Oklahoma Senate.
