Newest species of praying mantis named after Ruth Bader Ginsberg

Scientists at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and Case Western Reserve University have found a new method for identifying praying mantises using a ‘female genitalia character system’ instead of the more customary male one. This allows researchers to identify and categorize organisms based on both sexes equally. So refreshing!

The new species discovered in Madagascar has been named Ilomantis ginsburgae or Ginsburgiana after Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in honor of her work in gender equality. The mantis and justice seem to share some other cool characteristics, too:
