Yesterday, President Trump held a Cabinet meeting and reporters were welcome. But it soon took an unusual twist. First, Trump gave an opening statement praising himself. He said there has never been a president who has passed more legislation or “done more things.” That is a bizarre statement, as Congress hasn’t really passed any major legislation at all so far.
Then, the president asked his senior advisers to say a few words about the administration. They all started praising Trump, which had some people drawing parallels to North Korea and pointing to this behavior as what you see in totalitarian dictatorships. Vice President Mike Pence said it is the greatest privilege of his life to serve Trump, and the others had similar things to say. It was all super weird, so Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer made a parody video of the event, featuring his aides praising him…and his hair.
