Your topic of the day: voter fraud. It was a hot debate during the election, and President Donald Trump has falsely claimed “millions of people” voted illegally. Now the Supreme Court has announced it will not hear an appeal from Texas officials right now, who wanted to reinstate a controversial voter ID law. The law has been deemed unconstitutional by a lower court, but could still end up in front of the Supreme Court at a later date.

Republicans Vote to Permanently Ban Tax Money From Funding Abortions

Yesterday, only three days after millions of women marched for their rights, the House voted to permanently ban taxpayer money from being used for abortions. It would also prevent insurance from covering abortion. “We are a pro-life Congress. Today we renewed our commitment to the Hyde Amendment with the passage of the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act,” Paul Ryan wrote in a statement. This legislation would make the Hyde amendment, which bans federal money from being used for abortions, permanent. Similar bills have been passed in the House before, but have never made it through the Senate. This time, if the Senate does pass the bill, President Trump has already said that he will sign it into law.
