Chandler, Arizona, improved its place on the list from #10 last year moving to #8. Chandler is a large suburb outside of Phoenix, Arizona. Chandler’s position was improved as a result of the large 20 percent decrease in its violent crime rate this year. While the number of murders and rapes only dropped slightly, the number of robberies and aggravated assaults both saw significant decreases. This is the second year in a row that Chandler’s violent crime rate has markedly decreased, indicating it may continue to improve its place on the safest cities list.
