Gilbert, Arizona, is once again the #2 safest city in America. Like Irvine, California, this is Gilbert’s third year occupying this spot on the list. Gilbert is located in Maricopa County, in the Phoenix Metropolitan area. Gilbert experienced a minor change in its violent crime rate in 2014, with only a three percent increase from the previous year. However, Gilbert’s crime rate dropped by 10 percent from 2012 to 2013, indicating that the crime rate may be leveling out in a city that has experienced notable population growth over the last few decades.

Violent Crime Rate: 89/100,000 people
Murder Rate: 0/100,000 people
Population: 235,430
Officer to Population Ratio: 1:1037
Rank Last Year: #2
