Crime in America 2016: Top 10 Most Dangerous Cities Under 200,000
Little Rock, Arkansas, tops the list as the most dangerous city under 200,000 for the second year in a row. The top three is rounded out by Rockford, Illinois and Springfield, Missouri. This list, which includes cities with populations between 100,000 and 200,000, is based on data released Monday by the FBI. New Haven, Connecticut, fell on the list from #3 last year to #8 this year. This is as a result of the dramatic 15 percent decrease in the city’s violent crime rate, which stems from a decrease in both of aggravated assaults and robberies. Also worth noting is the fact that New Haven’s officer to population ratio fell from 1:340 the previous year to 1:286 in 2014 data, indicating an increase in the size of New Haven’s police force.
