Crime in America 2016: Top 10 Most Dangerous Cities Under 200,000
Little Rock, Arkansas, tops the list as the most dangerous city under 200,000 for the second year in a row. The top three is rounded out by Rockford, Illinois and Springfield, Missouri. This list, which includes cities with populations between 100,000 and 200,000, is based on data released Monday by the FBI. Springfield, Massachusetts, remained at the #6 spot on the list. Located in central Massachusetts, Springfield’s crime rate stayed steady in 2014 relative to the previous year, with just a .75 percent decrease. In 2013, Springfield saw a dramatic increase in its murder rate, from 7.1 murders per 100,000 people in 2012 to 14 per 100,000 people in 2013. However, this year that rate did normalize, at 8 per 100,000 people.
