Crime in America 2016: Top 10 Most Dangerous Cities Under 200,000

Little Rock, Arkansas, tops the list as the most dangerous city under 200,000 for the second year in a row. The top three is rounded out by Rockford, Illinois and Springfield, Missouri. Lansing, MI: Top 10 Most Dangerous Cities Under 200,000 in 2016

Lansing, Michigan, moved from the #8 most dangerous city between 100,000-200,000 last year to #4 this year. Lansing had a 6 percent increase in its violent crime rate, most of which appears to be from an increase in aggravated assaults. This is the second year in a row that Lansing’s crime rate has increased, indicating that it may continue to move up on the list.

Violent Crime Rate: 1,117/100,000 people
Murder Rate: 9/100,000 people
Population: 113,901
Officer to Population Ratio: 1:593
