Crime in America 2016: Top 10 Most Dangerous Cities Under 200,000
Little Rock, Arkansas, tops the list as the most dangerous city under 200,000 for the second year in a row. The top three is rounded out by Rockford, Illinois and Springfield, Missouri. This list, which includes cities with populations between 100,000 and 200,000, is based on data released Monday by the FBI. Rockford, Illinois, occupies the second spot on Law Street’s list. Rockford is located in north-central Illinois and is the third largest city in Illinois. Despite experiencing an impressive 10 percent decrease in its violent crime rate, Rockford still holds the #2 spot on the list. The decrease appears to have been across the board, with modest drops in the number of rapes, robberies, and aggravated assaults. Rockford also had a small drop in its number of murders, from 19 to 17.
