Worcester, Massachusetts, is another new addition to the list, coming in as the #10 most dangerous city between 100,000-200,000. Located in central Massachusetts, Worcester is the second largest city in the state of Massachusetts. While Worcester only saw a small increase of 0.8 percent in its violent crime rate, that increase and other cities’ decreases were enough to land it on the list. However, almost all of Worcester’s reported violent crimes were in the categories of robbery and aggravated assault; the city reported relatively low levels of rape and murder.
Violent Crime Rate: 962/100,000 people
Murder Rate: 3/100,000 people
Population: 183,248
Officer to Population Ratio: 1:416
Rank Last Year: #14
