This story seems too weird to be true…but we’re not kidding. Florida lawyer Stephen Gutierrez was defending a man accused of setting his car on fire in Florida when his pants suddenly started feeling very hot. Gutierrez argued that his client’s car had spontaneously combusted when all of the sudden smoke rose from his pockets and he had to rush outside. It turns out that the battery of an e-cigarette in his pocket had caught on fire. The incident gave new attention to the risks of e-cigarette batteries and Guttierez said that after some research he decided to avoid e-cig products in the future.
