Marilyn Mosby In Hot Water For Officers’ Prosecution

Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby recently dropped the remaining charges for the officers involved in the death of Freddie Gray, but Mosby now faces a new, perhaps unexpected, difficulty. She is being brought to civil court on charges of defamation of character among other charges by the officers whom she had, until recently, been prosecuting. She will now have to take the uncomfortable walk across the aisle and defend her actions. One way or another, her defense may become the soap box she needs to bring these cases back up into the court of public opinion.

In the video below, Mosby announces her decision to drop the remaining charges while also expressing her dissatisfaction with the way the cases panned out in court. She emphasizes that this did not change her own view on the legitimacy of the evidence. She argues that the failure to achieve criminal prosecution can be laid at the feet of the judge hearing the cases.
