However look at it from His point of view for a moment. He is charged to teach English as a second language to an influx of persons, of varying education levels, that NEED to learn English in short period of time just to be able to get a job, avoid getting in trouble with the police and have a real chance to enjoy the American dream. Agree They should change Homophones to something else because of the cruel way people misuse the word. However poor Clark’s job is to get them to speak basic English and figure out the twists on their own after they got jobs and aren’t getting arrested for using the word gaze wrong or saying hey officer check out my big Guns!! in a dark alley. All Languages regularly develop local slang and Dialect regardless of what we learned in school. Simple and clear communications is an important starting point for ESL students and thats Clarke’s Job.

Your Blog, while clever with Homophones and the importance of good usage of grammar and vocabulary works because, Because of the clearly stated context of this blog. If an ESL student decided to play with words like that, on say a job application, they wouldn’t appear clever, they would appear to be un-educated and not get the job or worse. Then they go back to Clarke and complain that he did a crap job and He’d get fired and no-one would blog in his defense.
Clarke Woodger has a crappy job and he did what he felt he had to do. While, I don’t agree with the firing, He is likely not a terrible guy either,Sometmes you are faced with problems that have no win solutions. Also yes my Grammar stinks but I have clearly communicated my point.
