How do such presumably educated people manage to demonstrate such stunning ignorance of such a fundamental principle of civil society as the right to be considered innocent until proven guilty of actually committing some sort of tangible crime?

Have people learned absolutely nothing from the lies surrounding the UVA case or the Duke University case from 2006? The author even starts the article by mentioning UVA, apparently without even a twitch of irony.

…and let’s not neglect to consider the mendacity of people like Lena Dunham, with her tale of getting drunk, having sex with a sleazy (according to her) guy, then equates regret on her part with an act of ultimate violence on his part. If she was just a lone nut howling alone at the moon that would be one thing, but apparently a sizeable gaggle of the cognitively stunted agree with her perspective.

So, if Ms. Dunham’s “rapist” was drunk and regretted it too (I know I sure would), does that mean it was a mutual rape? Just imagine: if such an asinine thought process could be enacted as policy and uniformly enforced across this nation’s college campuses, we could derail at least half of our nation’s college graduates before they ever attain their diplomas.

Between the synaptically short-circuited Lena Dunhams of the world, and the outright misandronist women that I’ve personally encountered who treat rape accusations like a sport, I foresee no shortage of bitter trolls nor mental midgets victimized by their own morning-after regret, eager to exploit invitations for abuse such as the one so lauded by the author.

While my own college years are long past, I find the prospect of my children having their lives abruptly destroyed by unproven accusations every bit as offensive and frightening as the prospect of them having their lives abruptly destroyed by a sexual assault. The primary difference being that, especially with the foresight to carry a weapon and acquire a modicum of training in its proper use, one has far better odds against vicious individuals than against vicious bureaucracies backed by millions or billions of dollars.

Most horrifying of all though is the prospect of this author as a future lawyer or even a judge. This author should be ashamed for colluding in the social movement to cheapen the term “rape”.
