From the description of the others it seems very likely they they were also mentally disturbed in some way. I think these stories once again just go to show how our medical system is failing people, especially when it comes to mental health, rather than any sensational nonsense about jilted lovers. People with really bad problem will do really bad things if they go on untreated regardless of if they are in/out of a relationship.
